The Romeira Market is the most recent food court on the South Bank, more precisely in Cova da Piedade, in Almada. Opened in 2018, it not only boils down to just one restaurant, but combines the best of gastronomy in an incredible place, be it indoor or outdoor (esplanade). Previously part of Quinta Real do Alfeite, owned by King D. Carlos I, was one of his frequent stay points, satisfying his taste for hunting. In turn, Queen D. Amélia, his wife, took advantage of the pleasant environment to go to baths. Romeira was also known for washing clothes for Lisbon, in the ponds of the old Largo da Romeira. The region had several water springs, attracting both laundresses and water washers.
